Car, Balloon & Cow: The Parades of Stamford

Welcome to our website about Stamford, a town of about 120,000 located in Southern Connecticut's Fairfield County. If you want to learn more about Stamford, have a look at the wikipedia page on Stamford. It's a busy town, and there's lots to write about, but we'll focus mainly on things that concern the parents of school-age children, and particularly those who have recently moved to Stamford or are considering moving here. If you are considering moving here and want to find out more, check out city-data. A forum where people wanting to move post questions and locals try to answer.

This website is privately owned and has no affiliation with the City of Stamford, or its Parks and Recreation Department or the Stamford Public School System.

Stamford Public Schools

The Stamford Public School System has as of 2008 some whopping 15,000 students in public schools. The school situation is ..., well, there is room for improvement, and there are private schools. Take a look at our page on the school situation. We carried together data from public web sites, and tried to boil things down to the essentials. Unless you are a natural in school politics, it takes quite a while to get the hang of it.

Sports

Stamford has lots of youth sports leagues: baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, you name it. Check out the links above.

Parks and Recreational Facilities and Activities

Spend a day on the beach with your kids! The best beach is at Cove Island Park, then West Beach Park. You'll need a beach sticker to park your car there. Check out the Stamford Nature Center, or go on one of the beautiful trails at the Arboretum.
